APPCAM SOLO 2 - INCREASING BATTERY LIFE
Uniden’s AppCam Solo 2 operates with a rechargeable battery that supports the camera for about 180 days. Different conditions can shorten battery life, such as:
- Camera Placement
- PIR Sensitivity
- Unnecessary Automatic Recording
CAMERA PLACEMENT ISSUES
High Traffic Areas
The AppCam Solo 2 is a very sensitive device and placing it in the proper location is critical. For example, if you place your camera in a high-traffic area with vehicle traffic, you may get many false recordings. Every recording requires power, so these false recordings will drain your battery over time. Also, bright lights and reflections can trigger false recordings.
Low-light environments make the infrared sensors work harder (and use extra power) to recognize and capture images. Install your cameras in well-lit areas.
Weak WiFi Connection
You also need a strong WiFi connection. The closer you are to the router the fewer dropped connections you’ll have. Bad connections require more power to transmit data, and using more power means a shorter battery life.
Another way to increase your battery life is to keep your camera away from extremes in temperature. Be aware of temperature-generating devices like air conditioner vents, humidifiers, heat transfer vents, etc., that can radiate heat or cold and cause your camera to work harder. The AppCam Solo 2 camera operates at 14°F ~ 131°F (-10°C ~ 55°C).
NOTE: If your camera is outside during extreme temperatures such as during summer and winter, you may experience decreased battery life. Recharge the battery as needed.
The more sensitive your camera’s Passive Infrared (PIR) settings are, the more activity it recognizes and records. However, maximizing sensitivity and increasing recordings also increase battery usage. You may have to adjust the PIR sensitivity through Uniden’s AppCam Solo app until your camera captures the level of detail you want.
NOTE: Set PIR to Low or Mid through Uniden’s AppCam Solo app for initial installation and adjust as needed.

MOTION DETECTION SCHEDULE
Create a schedule so your camera only detects motion during specific time periods. This schedule keeps the camera from triggering 24/7. For example, if you need the camera to record between midnight and 8:00 AM, use Uniden’s AppCam Solo app to create a schedule for recording between these times.
